Since 1948 the quarterly journal "Der Archivar. Mitteilungsblatt für deutsches Archivwesen" is the official bulletin for all governmental and nongovernmental, public, and private archives in Germany, as well as for the "Verein deutscher Archivare". Main issues of the journal are theory and practice of archivistics in the national and international context. In its function as the bulletin for the "Verein deutscher Archivare", the German archivists association, the journal informs about events, projects, activities, and personnel changes.
